"abstract": "In this paper optimal capacitor placement problem has\r\nbeen formulated in a restructured distribution network. In this\r\nscenario the distribution network operator can consider reactive\r\nenergy also as a service that can be sold to transmission system. Thus\r\nsearch for optimal location, size and number of capacitor banks with\r\nthe objective of loss reduction, maximum income from selling\r\nreactive energy to transmission system and return on investment for\r\ncapacitors, has been performed. Results is influenced with economic\r\nvalue of reactive energy, therefore problem has been solved for\r\nvarious amounts of it. The implemented optimization technique is\r\ngenetic algorithm. For any value of reactive power economic value,\r\nwhen reverse of investment index increase and change from zero or\r\nnegative values to positive values, the threshold value of selling\r\nreactive power has been obtained. This increasing price of economic\r\nparameter is reasonable until the network losses is less than loss\r\nbefore compensation.",
