"abstract": "The square-lattice Ising model is the simplest system\r\nshowing phase transitions (the transition between the paramagnetic\r\nphase and the ferromagnetic phase and the transition between the\r\nparamagnetic phase and the antiferromagnetic phase) and critical\r\nphenomena at finite temperatures. The exact solution of the squarelattice\r\nIsing model with free boundary conditions is not known for\r\nsystems of arbitrary size. For the first time, the exact solution of\r\nthe Ising model on the square lattice with free boundary\r\nconditions is obtained after classifying all )\r\nspin configurations with the microcanonical transfer matrix. Also, the\r\nphase transitions and critical phenomena of the square-lattice Ising\r\nmodel are discussed using the exact solution on the square\r\nlattice with free boundary conditions.",
